Nasi Goreng

for those who are not familiar with south-east asia cuisine,
this name looks really difficult and seems difficult to make.

not that i am very good at south-east asia cuisine,
but it just happens that people around me >90% are from there.
so i have a good opportunity to know more :D

actually, nasi goreng is simply equal to indonesian fried rice.
i must say this is a very easy and budget meal.
why not trying this for your next meal? :P

the way it looks is too awesome to take just one shot!
so i took couples :D heh~

an unwanted week

was a pretty horrible week last week.
and that is something that i will never want to experience again.
as my emotion was really fluctuated!

the external factors at work plus the struggles in my mind made the situation worst.
i was almost screamed at someone who really drove me crazy.

i was kind of disappointed that i did not control my emotions well enough and my level of patience was just not up to god's standard...

however, i was lucky that i was in the youth event at church on friday nite.
the jumping, the worship and the kids really shaked all my stress and frustration off my head.

the worship was awesome.

god spoke to me, how my life changed compared to the past and how different i am compared to the past.
he confirmed me that my life will never be the same, as i have invited him to come into my life. no matter what, he will be there for me and guide me in life. i will never be afraid, and i never be alone. and i am always be his wonderful daughter.

thank god for rescuing me

Pepper & Corn Pies

made these few weeks ago on mei's not very surprised birthday party.
so jon said everyone would bring one plate to share on that day, and i found an easy but nice recipe from kayotic kitchen. the combination of the traffice light colour, really attracts me to make and taste. :D

i highly recommend this blog to you. the pictures that she took and the easy-to-follow step by step recipe (with pictures), will never confuse you! and you can also know if you are following correctly by seeing the pictures!! how cool is that! :P

as for me, i think i did not do it quite successfully.
i think mainly because of the puff pastry.
i bought it for a while, so it did not rise properly, but at the time of baking i didn't realise this, so i thought the pastry is not cooked yet... as it didn't rise...

so i think i overcooked a bit and the vegie looked a bit dry... :(
but again, it still tasted good! wahahaha...
i think i always said the food i made tasted good!!! XD
don't know whether they all think the same way? heh~

Root Vegetables and Tofu Stewed in Miso Sauce

always love lotus root, and i found this wonderful recipe from just bento by makiko itoh.

this is my all time favourite japanese food blog.
it contains many ideas of how to make a beautiful bento which really makes me hungry!
(though i am hungry all the time~ wahahaha XD)

in this recipe, it suggested to be a miso sauce, since i am such a soupaholic person, i put more water to become root vegetable and tofu miso SOUP! haha~ yumsss~

and i think next time i will cut the taro a little bigger...
as it melted and made the soup very thick! haha
but it still tasted good! hehe

so hopefully this desire will not vanish~

okonomiyaki( お好み焼き), aka japanese pizza.
i bought this okonomiyaki mix the other day,
so tonite i tried it at home.
ichiban!!!! hehe~

to be honest, i don't know what to put in the mixture...
so i took some ideas from 101 cookbooks plus the ingredients suggested in the packet.
i also don't know if the sauce works...
but it seems yummy! haha

easy to make, but just take a bit of time to cook :D
but every minutes spent is worth!! heh~

Soy & Ginger Baked Fish

ha! it's donna hay again!
you should know why :D
because i have no time to cook man! haha

just kidding, as for me, i want to make my dinner simple and easy to make,
and it happens i find this recipe from her book.
so i give it a go :D

baked fish and steamed fish is a bit differnt.
the colour and the texture is differnt.
quite a few time, i thought the fish is undercooked,
but when the suggested time is over, the fish is still look the same.
so i tried a piece and i found it's cooked!

haha very different.
and it tasted great!
however, i think next time i would put more sugar when marinading the fish.
coz i found it a bit salty. :D

the gai lan is well cooked too.
very crunchy! i love it!

Apple Tarte Tatin

thanks for master chef australia.
we all are so into cooking now. haha~
at least, maria and i are...

so today, i tried this recipe that was shown in the pressure test.
actually, it is not that difficult that i thought.
so, i am pretty happy with the result :D
hehe...

like the chef said, the thing that most likely will go wrong is to caramelise the sugar.
quite a few time, i almost burnt the sugar! haha...

anyway, i like the taste and i am happy that my newly bought cast iron pan can be used in this recipe!!! yay :P

otherwise, we didn't have much time to spend together.
and i was so blessed to have kofanna and simone to help me for this trip.

the polish place

date: 20090529

we were supposed to see the sunset at mt tamborine.
however, the weather was jus not so cooperative.
before we reached, it was a rain storm...
so we did make it to be there, but the sun was long gone behind the rain clouds :(

but there were always positive sides.
though it rained, the scenery after rain was still pretty :D
having afternoon there in the coffee shop was even awesome!

they both were looking for yummy food in this trip.
thus, i told them it was actualy not that good and don't expect too much.
they were hesitated, but since i can't think of any good food in the city.
