shock and disappointed

i was in a public activtiy few days ago.
the speaker was talking about vision.
so the speaker invited a little girl on stage and asked her what she wants to be when she's grown up.

without hesitation, the girl said "i want to be an artist."
the speaker replied "are you sure you want to be an artist? coz artist normally doesn't earn much money, then how can you raise your kids and the family?"

i was absolutely shock and disappointed of the comment that the speaker made!!!!
how dare a person comment a kid's dream like that!
unacceptable!! totally unacceptable!!

by no means can anyone question people's dream, especially kid's. coz whatever we comment, they will jus take it seriously. they think adults have a better experience, they trust whatever we said is correct. then, a talented artist might be disappeared, because of our one stupid comment.

furthermore, i seriously don't understand why the speaker has to bring the money topic into the conversation. she is jus a little kid. why we have to make their world so complicated? nonsense.

no matter what you work as, you are a valuable asset to the society. be it a CEO of a big company or a cleaner in a shopping centre, they all play an important role!!!

through pursuing dream, people experience. people grow.
we should never discourage people who have dreams.
we should never make subjective comments.
we should never put money as our priority.
we should follow our heart and listen to Him who will guide us along the way.

the power of what we say can be huge.
so start from today, watch your mouth... think before you say

oh, i feel sorry to this girl...yes..its hard to tell people you want to be/ are an artist. not many people can understand. they think that it is impracticable.

she is still human, no matter what authority she carries but yes i do feel disappointed that she said that to the little girl.

i hope the little girl has forgotten everything already!

joey,
think you are one of the good examples to "shave their eyebrows" wahahaha... those who work for their dream will finally stand out and let the world know. i believe in the old saying of 行行出狀元.

nad,
we all are human, however, because she has the authority, she should be even more careful of what she says. that's kind of resposibility. anyway, what can we do?

zoooeee :D i think its great that you value dreams :D esp seeing the importance of those who are in the next generation :D

and yes I agree that people who carry authority must watch what they say but leaders, are still human as nads said and they make mistakes.

i think older ppl also think of money, as a security thing...and you know when they comment about income and stuff...its not that they're comparing or anything, its usually because it comes from a heart of love that they dont' want to see their loved younger ones struggle financially like they did u know?

and i believe its because she is one of our leaders that we must pray for her all the more u know? cover her in prayer so that God continues to develop her as a godly woman because also as a leader, she comes under alot of scrutiny and immense worldly and spiritual pressure..although i don't agree with some of the things she comments on I would never like to be in her position and carry the burden she is carrying. its not an excuse or anything, more like...an explanation? haha its hard to write what i'm trying to get across in a comment's box LOL so i'll talk to you about this in person more!! :D
